Concrete Constellations is an interactive sculpture where viewers are invited to peer through a telescope and observe dynamic typography as it floats across the 'sky’ in the form of zodiac constellations. The telescope is used as a mediator for the spectacle, pointing at a Raspberry Pi screen mounted on the floor above. These textual constellations pay tribute to a 1950s Concrete Art method of writing tokened ‘Concrete Poetry’. More specifically, this piece is an ode to founder, Eugen Gomringer's, 1954 Manifesto, 'From Line to Constellation', in both the textual constellations’ form, as well as...
Digital Disarray is a sculptural piece embodying the fragility and disconnectedness that comes with heartache. A fallen desk, a broken keyboard, a jammed printer, a leaning monitor, and tangled cables. They all lay vulnerable on the floor of a well kept office building, situated amongst unread love letters addressed to ex lovers. This is the inner world where we internalise experiences that were often felt to be unpleasant or frightening. Experiences that were repressed from consciousness, yet still remain active in the unconscious. This is what you don’t see in the other offices...
This project was an exploration into the ways that we process heartbreak and the emotions that encompass it. I initially set out to produce an interactive body of work that would romanticise heartbreak and eradicate the stigma of suppressing emotions- all through an archaic style of literature: love letters. I also aimed on producing and showcasing a working device that would receive the viewer’s written words (their love letter) and create an encrypted new entry that would both visually and figuratively represent a paper jam based on their (the participant’s) recorded heartbeat readings...
For this project, I initIally wanted to explore with and around textile representations of life, using the gathered data from my own heart rate sensor. I was successful in the creation of said device, through the programming of an Arduino, however, I found many complications with its ability to read and display accurate data. It took a week to resolve this, making me rather wearisome...
Within this project, I initially wanted to portray the figurative boundaries within intimacy. Looking into the psychoanalytic background behind our “setting of boundaries” and portray this in a series of abstract imagery be it, photography or film; opening a dialogue for the viewers to critically analyse and question the boundaries set within the couple displayed. However, after a high study of...
